What's the Big Deal About New Media?

Whether you're a small business owner who is just starting out or if you already have a successful business, the key challenge of starting or sustaining a successful business is innovative marketing. Everyday you not only have to do your work, you have to let people know what you're doing and what makes your business stand out.

If you've turned on the TV or read a newspaper or magazine lately you can't go anywhere without hearing about blogs, podcasts or PDAs. But all of this may leave you with one question: What can this do for you or your business?

The answer is a lot.

The latest Internet technologies are a relatively inexpensive way to get the word out and streamline your business. They can also save you time.

When we talk about new media, we're talking about the simplest things from using an e-mail signature that people see over and over again, to creating an online newsletter that helps you communicate with your customers and clients, to creating a blog or a podcast that can spread the word about your business around the block and around the globe.

You may wonder who has enough time to learn all of this? The fact is that you can't afford not to. In today's digital era, the way we do business is changing at the speed of technology. Women can't afford to get left behind.

In a recent survey of small businesses by Hewlett Packard, more than 80% of small businesses said that in the next 2-3 years, the place they would spend their most money was technology.

It is clear that technology is the new way we'll all be doing business and it's here to stay. The sooner women realize and embrace new media technologies the more their businesses will grow.
